The Manchester, Connecticut, community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Gregory Allen, 55, who passed away following a tragic single-vehicle crash on Interstate 84 in East Hartford Wednesday morning.
According to Connecticut State Police, the collision occurred at approximately 6:20 a.m. as Allen was traveling westbound on I-84 near the Exit 57 off-ramp toward Routes 5/15.
Investigators said Allen’s vehicle entered the gore area near the exit, where it struck an exit sign before continuing into the grassy area alongside the highway. The circumstances that led to the crash remain under investigation.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and provided assistance before Allen was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, he later succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the crash.
