With heavy hearts, the Newbury Park community is mourning the loss of Aleksander Tukalski, 89, and his beloved wife, Kazia Berlach Tukalska, 86, who were found deceased inside their home on Lucas Court on Monday, September 21, 2026.
Deputies assigned to the Thousand Oaks Police Department responded to the residence at approximately 11:11 a.m. after a family member requested a welfare check. The family member had reportedly been unable to reach the couple, prompting concern about their well-being.
When deputies arrived at the home, they discovered both Aleksander and Kazia deceased inside the residence.
Detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau and the Thousand Oaks Police Department subsequently investigated the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Authorities reported that a firearm was recovered at the scene.
Officials have indicated that the incident appears to have been isolated and that there is no outstanding threat to the public. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the couple’s deaths remains ongoing.
